Overview
Respiratory allergies affect the airways and nasal passages following sensitisation to environmental allergens. They are very common and can significantly impact quality of life. In some patients, allergies worsen asthma control.

How We Diagnose It
Skin prick testing can identify sensitisation to specific environmental allergens. Results must always be interpreted together with clinical history.
Treatment Approach
Management may include allergen avoidance advice, nasal corticosteroids, antihistamines, inhaled therapy where needed, and allergen immunotherapy in appropriately selected patients.
